Elliptical Workouts

Elliptical machines provide an effective low impact workout that will help you gain muscle and lose weight. You'll find that there's no end to the different types of workouts this machine can give you, including the following:

Elliptical Workouts for Weight Loss:

Losing weight is as simple as burning more calories than you take in, and ellipticals can do so much to help you get rid of those extra calories. Slow and steady is the name of the game here. You can set your elliptical to a resistance level that's comfortable for you, and then use it for a half hour or forty five minutes. Do this constantly (and ramp up the level a bit when it gets too easy) and you'll find it easy to shed some pounds.

Elliptical Workouts for Beginners:

Ellipticals are a great exercise machine for beginners. Because this type of exercise is very low impact you won't have to deal with the pain and possible injuries that can come from beginning other exercises. Instead, you can just hop on and go! Start out at a low resistance level and go for a short amount of time (15-20 minutes). Once you get a feel for the machine you'll be able to increase the level, thus increasing the number of calories you'll burn.

Elliptical Interval Workouts:

Intervals are an effective way to burn calories. In essence, you'll be switching back and forth from high intensity activity to low intensity. Elliptical machines make this easy. Simply start out at a low level for a five minute warm-up, then raise the intensity to between level four and five. After working at this level for a minute, switch up to level nine or ten. After one or two minutes at this level you can switch back down to the lower intensity to give yourself a break. This type of elliptical workout will really get your heart pumping!

Elliptical Training Workouts:

One of the nice things about elliptical is that they make it easy for you to train to be at a higher fitness level. Each time you use the machine you can raise the resistance level or speed, thus making your heart and muscles stronger. You may want to bring a clipboard and keep track of your workouts. It can be very encouraging to see how far you've come after using the machine for a while!

Elliptical Workouts for Runners:

Elliptical workouts are a great alternative for runners. The machine mimics the stride you use while running while eliminating the impact that can cause injuries and pain. They're a great alternative to running if the weather isn't cooperating or if you're healing from an injury and aren't ready to hit the pavement quite yet.

Elliptical Cardio Workouts:

If there's one thing that can be said about the elliptical, it's that it can really get your heart pumping! If you're interested in improving your cardiovascular fitness, an elliptical workout is a great idea. Raising the resistance level or moving at a faster speed will raise your heart rate and help improve blood flow. Many machines have built-in heart rate detectors so you'll have no problem telling when you've reached your ideal heart rate.

Elliptical machines have many different uses and can be used by just about anyone. Whether you've just started a fitness program or are a seasoned pro, there's a lot you can get out of these versatile machines.
